iit kharagpur Technion Pinball Wizards Augmented Reality Pinball Game

An augmented reality pinball game created at the Technion.-Israel Institute of Technology

In this project we created an augmented reality pinball game using a standard webcam and projector. Objects and drawings, placed or drawn on a board in real life, become interactive obstacles in the virtual world of the game. Different object shapes and colors incur different physical properties. For example, the ball gets the color of the last obstacle it hit. When it hits a rectangular obstacle, it becomes smaller and when it hits a circle, it becomes larger. A virtual ball and a virtual playing field are displayed using the projector. The player uses his hands to control a set of virtual flippers. All image processing and graphics are performed in real-time using a standard laptop. The system is portable and robust to different illumination conditions.
